Ravi Shankar Prasad, minister for communications and IT will today inaugurate four Varanasi Ghats Wi-Fi including Dashashwamedha Ghat and Sheetla Ghat at a function in Varanasi.
Varanasi Ghats Wi-Fi project is conceptualized by BSNL under Digital India Programme. BSNL is the sole owner of the project and provides Internet bandwidth whereas QuadGen Wireless manages the project on behalf of BSNL.
The function will be attended by Ram Gopal Mohle, mayor, Varanasi; Rakesh Garg, secretary, department of telecom; Shyam Dev Rai Choudhary, MLA; Dr Jyotsana Srivastava, MLA; and Ravindra Jaiswal, MLA.
“To start with four Varanasi Ghats will be Wi-Fi and in the next few weeks around 14-15 ghats will be Wi-Fi,” said CS Rao, QuadGen Wireless.
“All the four Varanasi Ghats will provide 5G compatible service i.e. 1.2 Gbps throughput and will handle 400 simultaneous users,” added CS Rao.
QuadGen Wireless will run Varanasi Ghats Wi-Fi service on a managed service basis and will take care of operation, maintenance, activation, portal, billing, and support for Wi-Fi operations.
In Varanasi Ghats Wi-Fi project, BSNL provides Internet bandwidth, Ruckus Wireless provides Wi-Fi equipment and Quadgen Wireless manages the project.
QuadGen is a next generation network solutions company that provides managed services and staff augmentation to Tier 1 telecommunications operators and vendors in India as well as internationally.</p>
